  • my diy break cue

took me a couple of hours this morning, should really have taken progress pics but got too carried away! basically I cut the old tip and ferrule off then cut a ring into the shaft with a Stanley blade then chiselled it down to the inside diameter of the new ferrule and fine tuned it with a file, I had to adjust it a couple of times and move the ferrule further down the shaft to match the diameter but I got there in the end! ... its definitely not a professional job but hopefully it will do the trick.

    specs are roughly
    55.75inch down from 57.5
    16.5oz
    bp 14.5
10.5mm fibre ferrule with phenolic tip (was 9.5)

Are you going to hit centre ball with this cue, or screw, or top? I'm wondering how the oversize ferrule and tip will react when hit with force.

Not yet no, it was snooker practice tonight. Probably centre ball tbh.

Let us know how it goes. I'm still tempted to get a phenolic made by the ebay chap, he cuts to size for £3. I was thinking of a 9.4mm to go on me Thai cue but if oversize works for you well, I may try that. Could you break with screw as well please and see what happens? Cheers.
