Looking to sell my John Parris Classic Cue BUT first... What is red glue?
My mate has a red glue Parris, you can easily see the red outline around the splices; more splasher made up bollocks, obviously has never seen one.
Stop jumping all over every thread and just stick to what you know, which isn't much.
From what I know, there is a kind of urban myth that has surrounded the red glue models ,and that's ,because they are older they are from a time when JP made all his cues with his own hands, the newer ones being made by employees and checked by JP through the stages, so folk say the red glue models are better, I don't know enough about them to be honest, and the lads who have already posted may well correct me but I think it's just a selling point to add a few pounds on to the price. If it was my cue I would certainly mention it was a red glue model,if I was selling it ,as many folk think it makes a difference and are willing to pay for it.
I am only going by pictures I have seen and you can see the red around the tips of the splices.

I'd take an old JPU over a newer one for the same money; anyday. That said, I think JPUs are crap for a grand. Mags did great with his Maximus in Shanghai, the final, as was the worlds, was an all Stamford affair. Not only have Parris cues gone downhill, but I also think that JP hasn't kept up with tech advances. Look at the invisible joints Aurora and MW produce, then look at JP's brass hammer joints. So many cue makers make better cues for a quarter of the money, including our own Adam, J6, Jim, etc.
@Ormes21, great spot, stick another hundred on the price bud. Put it on ebay, they'll buy anything Parris. There's a good chance that your cue will be made with Uncle John's old timber stock.

Itsnoteasy your posting things you don't know are fact how do you know red glue cues are all made from a time jp used to make all is own cues by hand And the new ones made by employees then checked by him.

An awful lot of drivel being spoken on here. I have owned hundreds of Parris cues and I guarantee that the colour of the glue makes no odds.
Unless someone is selling one then it's pointed out as a selling point as plenty believe it was when JP had more hands on. Still just a cue but dealers and sellers always point out red glue. I'd imagine a JP classic would sell for around 300.

You sure Mags was playing with a maximus, his dad just gave me a Maximus ultimate to sell.

another post of absolute rubbish.
I don't ,that's why it's an urban myth! I thought I had made that pretty plain, have I missed something here, that's not too hard to understand is it?
The new cues are made by employees but he still checks every stage, he said so in his interview , I don't think that's any great secret is it?

Ignore stillinbed, he can't read; or write in English.

Unless folk can make a ton or near that, they won't feel the difference. When folk can make a ton, they have the hands to feel the difference a good cue makes. An old Parris is a better cue than a newer Parris. We can feel the difference. It's like angel ash, most folk can't feel the difference compared to KD ash, they don't have the hands for it.
