there will be those that love the classic plain butt
there will be those that hate snakewood itself
there will be those that hate spliced butts
there will be those that hate plain
there will be those that love spliced butts
there will be those that love snakewood itself

me personally, appreciate a classic butt, but love looking at highly figured burrs and snakewood is one of my favs

I assume you have a good dialogue with your cue maker?
Once your spec is nailed bang on, then think about aesthetics!
You can get some pencil crayons out and sketch a few ideas, which will enable you to appreciate the whole custom process further. Have fun with it and ultimately make your own decisions otherwise you will be filled with regret rather than relief...
                  I envy your choice! :snooker:

Depending how quick you want the cue, there is no better than having a custom cur built to your own spec.

Sure Stevie is discussing Exquisite Cues (mentioned earlier?), Raymond does not do custom orders.
