  • Removing a butt joint

I have a cue that I want to pull the butt joint out of, it's nothing expensive, it's not even my playing cue, but I'm using it as practice before I go to work on my cue. What's the best way to do this? I was thinking of heating up the metal with a soldering iron to loosen the glue, but I've got no idea how I'm going to unscrew the thing after that, ideally I'd like to re-use it as well. Thanks in advance

The soldering iron is a good idea but don't let it get too hot otherwise the heat will discolour and could burn the wood. A suitably sized broken stud screw extracter will enable you to screw it out. I have a set of these, invaluable tools when dealing with seized allen head bolts.

Cheers Steve, I do have a set of those somewhere, I'll have to look them out.
