You can get a red marker and outline the splice tips of the modern ones and sell it for a bit extra because its a red glue edition that the eleven folk of London have worked on!

Not sure about temps affecting alignment, I did have a cue that was in a case unused for a few years. When I took it out the ebony had actually swollen slightly and was slightly wider than the joint.
