  • Pearwood cue

Hi I have chance to buy an unusual pearwood tyrone cue with snooker spec but I won't get a chance to play it.

Just wondering what are the pearwood shafts like to play with in comparison to maple or ash?

Would you recommend pearwood in a cue shafts?

      Pearwood cue

Pearwood is very smooth due to even less obvious grain features than maple.
If you have the chance to buy one I would take the punt
Let us know and post pictures when you can:biggrin:

        Yeah , well .... that's a exceptional report Dean.

How about sum info about the wood.
Is it more stiff or denser comperd to ash or maple ?

          Pearwood cue

It has been said that it is difficult to get a good source of pearwood that will produce a good shaft, hence it is not common as a cue. Even then it can be whippy or prone to bending quickly.
If Platt has produce one and the OP has an opportunity to get a cue to me it sounds that Platt may have made a good'
But it is smooth as a baby's skin to play with so a bit of a special to find a player

The cues look great and certainly a decent selection so I can;t see them being around long when he puts them up for sale.

He's done a lot of groundwork in getting them to this point.

You'd be lucky getting one thats rigid enough for snooker, seen them used for uk pool though.

Would the centre of the tree cuts not be rigid enough?
