Must admit, this subject drives me nuts as there's still so many conflicting methods.

Always used to see Jimmy White use a damp cloth (one end damp the other dry) so I did it for years. Even with multiple coats of oil it used to eventually drag the grain filler out which was ok as I'l refill it and re-oil, the cue never warped after 6 years.

Was told by a cue maker that I could use 0000 grit wool on the cue shaft to keep it smooth as often as I wanted as it will only take the dirt and surface muck off (struggling to remember which one said but it's in my notes with no name by it).

My cue taper had completely altered over the last couple of years doing this and from personal experience would never do it again.

For anyone who says it doesn't make a difference I know from personal experience that it did with me and I have learnt a painful lesson.

I am still uncertain over the 'REAL' best method/s and worn out trying to find out who is right and wrong in this secret art of cue making and maintenance!

No problem with your question mate, just a frustrating topic at times.

It is a simple question I reckon................it's all the answer that are the problem!

Good evening gents. Do Parris cues require special treatment because of their superior construction?

                    Regards, PP.

Thankyou for your kind words. I did mean to join 5yrs ago but only got around to it tonight but my prediction did eventually come true. I have read many times, some of the colourful witicisms on this forum, from afar.

I had a weak moment, thank you for pointing it out.

Gotta go......have to get my cues out of the bath water, re-soak them in yak saliva and then kiln dry them before rubbing them down with fairy wings.........someone told me it's the future!

Been a long day, I'll be back on the medication tomorrow.
