I was speaking to a cue maker who I will keep private but they are without doubt mentioned frequently being among the "best".
I hardly post now but those of you who remember will know I play with a 55 inch cue.
I enquired about having a cue made from scratch to specification and was advised that this cue maker no longer does custom orders and only makes for overseas distributors.
Though this is the case, they did have 4 cues available for me to try if I wanted to buy from their stock though the range of these cues were from 57-58 inches.
I mentioned that these cues would be unsuitable and he mentioned having the cue cut down for me to which I declined.
Whilst I'm by no means a cue-maker/expert but the general consensus was that if a cue had been finished to a certain length, then it shouldn't be altered and messed around with.
The cue-maker also said to me that it wouldn't make any difference at all as if he was to make me a cue from scratch, he would do the exact same thing and cut a cue down.
I wanted to know if any of you were after a cue, would you have it lengthened/shortened or would you buy from scratch?
Thanks,
Nicholas
