Probably at a push 300, as I want to invest and stick with a good one rather than keep updating as I get better. I just seem to hear a lot about Peradon so assumed they are up there with the good ones?

I've treid few shots with Peradon Joe Davis. tbh, nice hit . the shaft was not my taste though.
Have no experience with Stafford .
For that kind of money , thr are sum better options imo. ( just my opinion of crs ).
If you realy looking for a good one , than try the cue before you buy it , my friend.
each cue plays diff and hard to judge.

Cheers mate. Is there a place that stocks a good variety I can try Lots out? I'm based in stoke (Midlands ish) but willing to travel.
Apart from peradon what other brands would you look out for with that budget?

Craftsman is also a good option. depending on your location.

you're welcome my friend . Both places have snooker tables and you can try the cues before u buy it.
For that kind of money you gonna get a lovely cue.

P.S. At Craftsman some of the ranges (likes Maximus) , the butt are varnished.
Those at Greenbaize are Oil finished ( as far as i know ).
May not be such a bad idea to give both of them a call and have a chat before you make sum choices.

Goodluck with your search for Holy Grail. :snooker:

That's great. Also since you mentioned maximus...are they good reputable cue makers bring from Thailand? Or should I stick with English made?

Yes they are . imo, one of the best.

Each cue plays differently and has to be judged on his own.

Does'nt matter UK Or Thai. As long as the cue feels right in your hands and suits your game.

In case you're interested in UK made cues, let us know.
I'm sure other members can point you out in the right direction.

I'm on my way to work . gonna be a long night for me.

                    good night bud.

I also live in Stoke and know Craftsman at Kippax well . They had a pool table ( English ) and a snooker table in the shop , with around 200 cues on display the last time I was there. As long as you dont take the " you know what " , go to the racks pick up a dozen or so cues , take them to a table and try them out. Personally I have done this for myself and I have taken team mates to Craftsman to do the same . You can not beat the " try before you buy " option , especially if you are spending a good amount on a serious playing cue as you know exactly what you are spending your hard earned on. Simon and Dave very easy to deal with and if you dont find what you want there is always the custom option or getting a cue altered to suit , both options are valid at Craftsman.

In my opinion Peradon cues are overpriced and of extremely variable quality, even with identical models. Poor resale too. Get to GBL and go Thai. Well worth the trip.

Thanks for the knowledge guys. With you being Stoke based if you're at a loose end for someone to practice with id be happy to play. You're probably leagues above me but I love the game and keen as mustard to get better all the best

I agree with this, I'm not a Peradon lover, far better cues out there for the same price, from what I have seen of them. There are quite a few players in our club who have Peradons, not had a hit with one that I liked.
This is how you play darts ,MVG two nines in the same match!
