Joint protectors?

Hello everybody.

I came from the pool planet. There a lot of people use joint protectors to protect their cues - just put on the caps to the screw and screw hole when the cue is taken apart. It protects the screw pin from bending and accident. I recently came to the snooker planet and I don't see them. I don't see people selling joint protectors either.

Why? Don't people worry about a bended pin? Or there really are joint protectors and I'm being ignorant? Or it's a tradition and people just don't use them?

they are used quite a bit in the US here, but i don't use one. An long as you have a decent case, and some common sense, you should never have to need for one.

yeah i use them on my pool cues, but i've rarely seen them for snooker cues. i think they would be a nice accessory to have. not super essential, but nice. i would like to see cuemakers offer this as an option myself

Joint protectors are a total waste of time. Butt joint protectors though, thats a different story and unless custom made are virtually impossible to find.

But there again making one from a bottle of wines rubber cork with a blade does the trick, takes two mins, and costs nothing.

I like that. Probably will try it after I purchase a cue. Haha.
