Hello everybody.
I guess everyone knows which planet I came from now. Haha. Now that I am at the snooker planet, I need some weapons to attack. I need to buy a snooker cue.
Can someone please give me some idea of names of manufacturers and cue makers (be it mass production or high end custom) and their price ranges? I have heard of Peradon, Craftsman, Mastercraft, O'min, Cuecraft, Mastercue, J Parris, Trevor White, Mike Wooldridge, BCE, Riley.
My budget is around £55. I know a lot of the names above are out of my budget. So what is within budget? I have heard of bad things about BCE and Riley. I hope my budget can do me better than those, say not Chinese but made in UK.
I am not too concern about the cosmetic (I don't think I could, anyway). I value playability more. Coming from a US pool background, I prefer maple shaft more. I know that limits my choices. If that left me with little choices then I would give ash shaft try.
Please give me some brands or series within those brands that I should check out. The following spec would be prefect but I don't expect to meet it all. I would rather get a better quality cue than to have a cheap one for the sake of meeting the spec.
tip size 9.5-10mm
Elkmaster tip (I might change to Talisman Pro Soft later, less maintenance is one reason)
prefer maple shaft
3/4 butt
17-18oz
length about 58"
no need base butt joint or extension (so prefer no butt screw hole)
What are some of the large reputable online vendors? Can someone please list some websites so I can take a look? I don't want to buy 2nd hand nor from Ebay.
Thanks a lot.
