  • Cue you use now and when you first started playing?

As the title says really is their anyone on the forum that uses the same cue now as they did when they started playing?

If not why the change and what feels good about the cue you use now?

I still have the very first cue i had, riley 2 piece argos special, bent as a banana sounds horrible. Can still play with it as well as the ultimate (maximus). i am playing with at the current moment. Go figure?!?!?

First cue I ever had was an old pool cue my dad found at work. It was short, probably 42 inches, but I was only 10. I used to play in the working mens club before everyone got there. The table was in the middle of a big disused concert room and very quiet. Sometimes we got a couple of frames, sometime just a few minutes. Then I spent the rest of the evening watching everyone play doubles. That was back in the early seventies. My cue now is a TP Black Bone. No plans on changing.

Nope completely different cue. Started off with a 2 piece when I started playing pool. Traded that in when I started taking the game more seriously as it was varnished. I got a peradon in pool spec. Naturally progressed to snooker and therefore needed something bigger. Got myself a JP professional which I had for a while, but wanted something with a bigger tip and lighter. Since then i've tried many many cues in a range of shaft woods, ash, maple, hornbeam, hickory. Liked ash best, been through most of the makers in both one piece and 3/4. Prefer 3/4 and currently playing with a H&O blackplate, nicest cue I've ever had! Have a Trevor White 1 piece that's quite nice as a back up.

Had an Argos bce Ronnie O'Sullivan cue given to me. Many cues later I'm using an Osborne. I just got into cues lol. It'll probably be something different in years time lol.

there are more and more manufacturers than 10 or 20 years ago. getting and changing a cue is very easy if you not request a specific brand. actually one cue can not use when first start using, as you need find a cue to suit your needs.

3/4 cue off eBay 20 odd pound, loved it ,joint went glued it back together in a poor fashion, gave it to a lad in the club who didn't have a cue. Play with a cue from J6 now , think I've had it about a year at a guess, it's the longest I have ever played with the same cue, can't see me ever changing although I'm still buying them to try lol, can't help myself.
This is how you play darts ,MVG two nines in the same match!

Started with a Cue craft quick release thing with red splices - monarch? Lovely cue. Had a million cues down the years. Currently I use a stamford 1 pc cue now.

Started with a dinky riley maple 2 piece, now have a 3/4 TW cue. The Riley was like £15 from argos, was decent for the money, very similar to the one pictured, i'm near sure i still have it somewhere.

My mate has this very cue, well its somewhere at mine. His came with a Stephen Hendry signature on it that's long worn off. He doesn't use it now, a nice cue craft came up at a charity auction, so I bought him it.
When I started I just bought a new cheap one now and again. Wasn't really much on offer apart from what was available at the snooker club and the Argos or other high street stores and I didn't really know anyone in the snooker club at the time. I ended up getting a cannon in the mid nineties, used it till about 2011 but I barely played for just over ten years maybe. still have it somewhere but its a state now. I have an exquisite now, decided to try something since I figured I'd little clue about cues anyway. Best move I ever made.

I started with a Riley cue much like the one in the pic above, I was only 7 and my dad bought me something to get me started. It was a cheap cue but it was one of the most nicely weighted and well balanced cues I've ever played with. I dug it out of the garage at my parent's house over xmas and took it for a game, it still played lovely.

Inevitably I grew up and wanted something more showy/expensive and after various mishaps with cue joints breaking on my Peradon King and Cuecraft Triumph I now have a one piece James Butters which is hopefully my cue for life.

I started with a 2 piece peradon crown cue. Then I won some money on the fruit machine in the club so bought a Hunt and O'Byrne, which I used for over 25 years, but reluctantly sold. Since that I have had a GBL, Utopia, ADR147 and now a Niche cue. All nice, but not the same as the old H and O
I went into a chemist and asked for a deodorant, the assistant said "ball, stick or aerosol", "No, I want it for under my arms!" was my reply.
