Tip and chalk is just personal choice

Try different brands of tip till you find one you like and that's it . Same thing for chalk

Chalk does make a difference, stay clear of Pioneer chalk, use Triangle or Master chalk in green, Silver Cup isn't bad either but most chalk you come across in bars is almost useless.

or if u like a clean table and clean balls u should have a go at the new taom chalk. Been using it for a week and this stuff is amazing. I've been quite doubtful about chalk making a difference, but 6h of practising without a single kick. Also no need to brush the table in between practising. With the standard green triangle I normally used I've felt like I must brush the table and polish the balls after each hour to maintain the conditions. Gripwise it seems to do the job just as well as your standard green triangle. My standard isn't that high, but I clear my line ups whenever I get my cue action together
