The BBC are only happy when they are trotting out cliches. No depth whatsoever, just the same old nonsense year in year out from a bunch of has-been lovies. And the fact that most pros think Parris makes the best snooker cues just shows how ignorant they are concerning the equipment they use.

I've never had him as a salesman persuading you to buy his gear. People generally are after something and he'd offer advice. And well, he got this way from making cues in the beginning so why not.

Parris has been a cue maker and is still involved in the cue making process, sales and advice is just as important a part as the labour intensive jobs of planing down shafts or putting ferrules on and fitting joints.
And whilst talking about accurate representation, he doesn't have any teenagers working for him, that is yet another lie that gets used to try and discredit his business as though its full of kids making crap cues you get from argos. You have just proved that like many others you are anti Parris, I just don't understand why so many have criticisms of him.

But yes I'd be the first to say that I've seen some his cues and I don't like them but I also have an order with him at present and well whilst he may not be my first choice, I will rather go to him because I know where I can find him and I can always communicate with him if needed.

I'm not anti Parris. The Parris workshop turns out many fine cues. And I know John has made cues himself in the past from scratch, I have owned some of the early ones myself. What I am anti is his reputation as a current hands-on cue maker who is the best in the business. And okay, teenagers may be an overstatement, but his workshop is not exactly crammed with experience. Buy a cue from Parris and you do not know who has had a hand in it. The pros get a different product and he will make as many cues available to them until they are happy, so that caveat is not representative of the general product and therefore should not be used to define his reputation or status. Having said that, I respect other opinions different to mine. That's the way of things. I just get fed up with the cliche 'Parris is the best in the business, etc...'Last edited by ghost121; 28 April 2017, 01:11 PM.
