  • Is my cue warped or not? *PHOTOS*

Hey there chaps lovely to meet you all, I recently got back into snooker after a long time and decided to get a new cue the Peradon Cannon Encore 2 Piece Ash cue, it cost £40 and I thought it'll do for now as I slowly start to take things more serious.

However as I was at my club table I noticed the cue seemed really bent....When I laid the cue facing down on the flat part of the butt it was flush against the table, when I rotated it to the opposite side of the flat side the top end of the cue was off the ground nearly and inch, is that due to the cue being bent or just how it is as the bottom end is thicker than the top?

Here are some photos, should it be like this?

it is to his missus!

      HI nutshot, welcome to TSF
don't roll the cue on the table, hold the cue to your eye and look down the shaft, rotate the cue 90deg steps and see what you see, if you see straight it is straight, if you don't, it isn't
The taper of the shaft can seem an illusion of a bend but often not.

Forget this, play the balls and enjoy the game
      Up the TSF! :snooker:

I wasn't rolling it on the table I was just laying it flat, what I want to know is should a cue look like that when the flat end of the butt is facing up or should the tip be flush on the table...thank you for the reply

Alright but is it normal for the cue to be sticking up like that?

Just sight down the cue form the butt end to the tip and rotate it slowly, if it doesn't appear bent then its not bent. Rolling a cue on a table proves absolutely nothing.

I said I wasn't rolling it, what I'm asking is when the cue is laying dead still with the flat end of the butt facing up should the top end be off the table like that or not? I wasn't rolling...even the guy I emailed about the cue assumed I was rolling even thought I said I'm not rolling it lol!

Same thing applies, the only 100% way to check it is to sight down it like i said. That's how cuemakers check straightness.

I understand that but I want to know if all cues are like this with the flat end of the butt facing up?
