Lost Cue

I lost my cue at my club in Swindon on Thursday 27th April.

It is a 3/4 piece cue with a maple shaft. It has an ebony butt with single rosewood splice and red inlay.

A circular butt plate reads
“HAND MADE FOR ALAN THOMAS BY MASTERCRAFT”

If anybody sees this cue please contact me.

I once went to a local Riley's for a game. Opened my case and my beloved TW wasn't there. Then I remembered I left there in a massive rush the day before. Whilst having a mild heart attack I found Trevor in the cue rack. It must be been tidied up by one of the staff.

That'll teach me for playing snooker in Riley

I'd say the staff saved your bacon there
It was you in a rush and not taking care of your beloved cue that put it at risk

Hurricane Rooms Tooting a couple of years back, between frames I left my cue on the table popped to the bar and came back, cue was gone. no-one had entered or left the snooker hall. It must've still been in the hall. asked the tables on about my missing cue, no answers. rather than individually approach 7-8 different individuals my brother and I go back to the bar asking about CCTV. with CCTV not an option we return to the hall to approach every single person 1 by 1 to find some idiot holding and chalking my cue. Claimed they didn't understand the situation and thought it was a club cue.

I needed a little restraining by that point as I was visibly fuming. clubber or not, you don't lift a cue from a lit table. Obviously I didn't buy the whole club cue or misunderstanding argument.

Seems like a good idea for everyone to not only photograph their cue but the grain pattern in case you need to prove it when it pops up on Ebay etc.

I came close to that too, I was playing 9-Ball and had my Predator up against the wall (for those that aren't aware Predator cues look very different to club pool cues)...I saw a guy going round the cue racks seemingly inspecting each cue, until he eventually go to my solitary cue not in a rack and decided to pick it up. I shouted over (I was at the table), he apologised and moved on....so no actual harm done.

In all honesty it could have been a genuine mistake, we sometimes assume as players that everyone is aware of things we take for granted, in my situation I had my break cue in my hand so to someone that doesn't play at all, its not ridiculous to assume he thought that cue looks alright and that guy has a cue so it can't be his...I'll try it.

Equally, I can sort of see how someone that doesn't play, sees a nice looking cue on a table and picks it up...after all when we all started, did we all not go around the club looking for the house cue with the least warping, best tip etc?

That said...in the OP's case, give the personalised plate there's not really a grey area!
