Any good are those Black plate

Hi all, just out of curiosity, are all the Black plates (Will Hunt, Hunt O'byrne, Hunt Osborne, Robert Osborne, Exquisite etc , sorry that's all I can tell , please let me know if I missed any others ) are the best playing cues ? Anyone has a Black plate not playing any good ? （No need to mention any brand if not feeling comfortable ）
Or just feel confidence playing with one of them?

Mate if you paid 2k for a cue would you openly admit to it being a bad player. Personally too many people here are cue snobs. That is they look at the badge and go ooohhh and ahh. I personally play with a cue and then judge irrespective of badge.

Well on theory the black plates are the best cue that person/company can produce..........however that does not necessarily mean the cue will play any better for you than a £150 cue, there are no magic cues (unfortunately)

Spot on about the badge nonsense but it's hard to say what's a bad player, I have gone from liking very stiff cues through to playing with a springy one and at all times I would have said the other types were bad players .

Someone offered me ridiculous money last night for my playing cue, I thought for approx 5 seconds then turned him down, I don't think I'll find anything better but never say never etc

i turned down a small fortune in the eighties for my playing cue( which i had made myself) from a well known pro as i thought i would never part with it , no idea were it is now lol

depends what you are paying for in a cue and what you "believe" or choose to "accept".

I accept a £150 cue can play as well as a £1000 cue. I also accept that you pay a premium just for brand names.

I don't think more money = a better player. But for me when i buy a cue, i am paying for playability as well as craftsmanship.

I will not have one without the other and both are important to me because that is the way i am.

I would happily pay £500 plus for a cue but that will have to be something playable but also it has to be something I am happy with i.e. shaft pattern, level splicing, a particular grain of butt splicing etc.
