  • Can a snooker cue be made stiffer?

Gonna ask just to please my mate, if a cue is not to your liking is it possible to make the shaft stiffer?
    I'm saying no, am I wrong ?

Which would then end up with a rubbish cue

Short answer is no as that much lacquer or vanish would crack at some point....
For that one you've always wanted...

          Yep thought so
Short of using a long drill and inserting an iron rod nothing can be done lol

Yes, you can cut a couple or three inches off the tip end, extend the butt and re-taper the shaft a tad thicker.

That depends on the taper on the cue as some have a very small one

Aye that is an option but it's a 3/4 Parris cue and would then mess everything up, I think my mate was thinking of something magic lol

                  I quite like this thread.

As cue shafts are porous, I wonder if the cue could be soaked for a time in something that would harden inside the cue?

Just a thought as you can always keep the surface smooth.

Would have to be careful as of you made it to hard.... It would break, plus what would you use?

Just flog it, he doesn't like it but there are plenty of us out there that would. Then buy a stiff one with the money.

Well if he wants a stiff shaft then he could sell the 3/4 Parris and buy one of my one piece beech cues.

I have no idea but nothing's impossible (or so I'm told).

So, stiffer but flexible. Hmm.......I'll get back to you!
