  • Who makes nice one piece cues?

I'm on the lookout for a one piece cue and was thinking of getting one from Hunt and Osborne as i have my 3pc from there already and like the feel, although i know this will be near impossible to get in another cue i'd like to get something with as many similarities as possible, i.e. weight, length, materials.

So who else does this type of thing, i've read about Wooldridge and White as well as the other ones such as Parris.

Also anyone own something like this, and have an opinion on other their own or others?

Sounds like you want a clone but as a one piece.

    May I offer an alternative?

You have said yourself you think it unlikely to get one with the exact same feel and though with a good copy you'd probably only tell them apart with time but then whats going to happen?... your going to favour one over the other yeah? then what?... think why did i just spend xxx on a spare, and probably sell it at a loss.

Instead try to get something different, a one piece by all means but consider a different spec, not too much different, praps a slightly thicker/thinner butt a smaller/bigger tip mapleinstead of ash or vice versa. One with pool in mind if you play both or a totally different spliced butt. Hows about another 3/4 but interchangable ie either butt or shaft marries either of the other cue.?
Who knows maybe something different might suit you better.

I Just cant see the logic behind having another almost the same but for the lack of a joint which makes little or no difference. Especially as it sound like you have a perfectly good cue as it is.

Anyways, if a guy can make a quality 3/4 he sure as hell ought to be able to make as good a one piece so to answer your question heres the premier league in no perticular order. (Not missed anyone out as the list is merely copied from another thread to which no one here felt another name worthy of being added)

    Trevor White
    Andy Bream
    Mike Wooldridge
    Robert Osbourne
    John Parris
    Tony Glover
    Craftsman cues
    Mastercue
    Martin Chesworth
    Tony Ions
    O'min
    Stamford cue makers
    Peradon
    Andy Gibb
    Kevin Deroo
    Kev Muncaster Northwest Cues
    Robin Cues
    Coutts Cues

Actually I'd add Andrew Ramsay to the list, Although mainly a dealer he's as capable as any.

Thanks for the reply, to be honest i've just reread my post and i shouldn't have put down similar materials as i'm actually on the lookout for a cue that has a maple shaft and a lighter coloured splice as my 3/4 has an ash shaft and a rosewood splice in the ebony butt.

The similarities i'm looking for are length and weight, plus tip size, although tip size is something i could change as i might go down to a 9mm like my old cue that broke.

As for the 1pc over the 3/4, i've always wanted a 1pc but it was never really practical as i never had a car and always had to carry the case, 3/4 was a struggle to get about with so 1pc would have been even worse, but now i have a table in the house i'd like to get a 1pc.

i agree mike wooldridge does make excellent cues, only trouble is you would have to re-mortgage your house for one.

Trevor White or craftsman cues are your best bet, VERY VERY good cuemakers and also competatively priced unlike wooldridge and Parris.

Also if you contact Craftman or trevor they will give you a lot of help and guidance so you get exactly what you want, you cant buy that personal touch that they offer, very very nice people to deal with.

I can't make any judgements on anyone else except John Parris.

He's very expensive and always late but my Ultimate which i have had for a month now is very very nice. If i get a new cue which i might soon, im going for a Tevor White heard very good remarks about his cues.

Yes its very nice looks like a traditional but a 3/4 cut.

Its simular yes, 3/4 chevrons but the ash on mine is very very light. Its got a chevron about 1 inch away from the ferrule which i asked for because i use them for sighting.
