  • Have been busy...

    Hi all,

I've been busy with a few cues, including repairs and extending one for a friend.

Bring someone's pride and joy back to life is fun.. Sometimes...
Also making myself a new beech cue and have to say it plays really well.
Will post the pic's and see what you think!

    My new one.

Is that on the extended one?
As it was what I was asked to do..
Just wanted an inch on the bottom of the cue and could have made them longer.

Last one I did for him was done like that but broke after using it as it was rotten, where I had taken it down.
Want much I could do about that but this was what he asked for... Only reason it was done like that.

The repair to the machine spliced joint looks good. What did you do there to repair it?

Take the joint it first, glue the break... Clean the old hole and reglue the joint back in..
Also helps when they have not had a go at doing it themselves...
Done a few of them two..
Some of thing, I've done for year's.

So glad I made it and looking to make another one as I brought enough to make two..

Do you know what caused the split Ninja? Was it a fit of temper? If you have a hairline crack do you have to widen it once the joints out to make space to put the glue in,sort of making it worse to make it better. Just asking as my friend has quite an expensive cue that he says he over tightened and has got a hairline crack in the finger splices.
This is how you play darts ,MVG two nines in the same match!

Yes sometimes it's because people over tighten the joint but lucky it's just the glue that goes in the joint, making it loose..
This one was a little different as his friend stood on it...but lucky as it was a clean crack.
I mean it was straight and not splintered, which can make it a lot harder to get back together properly..

I've got one more beech shaft myself, currently working on a long 3/4 split ash/wenge cue for someone of 6 foot five plus, will attack the beech soon.
Pottr on this forum said his grandad has a beech cue, so it's nothing new, just rare I guess, but unlike pearwood it's freely available and could catch on once someone of real ability has a go with one and endorses it.
