From what I have seen, the Special Cue badge from the late 90s has more space between the words; the space was tighter after 2000 - not sure exactly when it changed. Not just "Special Cue" but on other badges as well.
So the cue in question may not be that old due to the tight space

The badge looks too good though. How do you know it is fake?

I take it by the post you bought this, then asked if it was real. Is it possible the person who sold it to you did so in good faith and might take it back. It's such a risky business buying a cue nowadays, gutted for you.
