not having much luck there Gary - just wondered what the best cue is you ever found at a car boot...
I once went to one and there was a stall holder - a little Asian chap who explained the working men's club had been bought and shut down and had been turned into a Indian restaurant - I was disgusted - eeven though I like my ruby murry...Anyway he has this bucket filled with cues and cases - I looked at them all picked out some old ones that caught my eye and some modern riley ones - How much for these I asked eagerly... 20 pounds each those they are brand new ...ok I said I cant afford them what about these old ones - I picked up one with no ferrelle and one was a bit shabby dull looking all three looked a bit poor to be honest.
Oh you can have those for eight pounds each said the man - mmmmm I thought about it and then said I give you 20 pounds for all three to which he agreed.
Cue one burwat champion
Cue two Joe Davis 138 break
Cue thee Ye Old Ash
Took them home cleaned them up re oiled and re-finished them got a ferrel put back on one of them and sold the lot for a total profit of over a grand.
Felt a bit guilty so went and bought a curry there a few weeks later... tasted good.
Those three quarter machine spliced cues never look that stable to me, I know they must be as they last a long time, they just look like they would fall apart.
What's the hand spliced one second from the bottom Gary?
