the nightmare that is selling a cue on ebay!

As a keen snooker and pool player ive become some what addicted to quality cues over recent years
ive bought and sold some lovely cues , mainly Parris
the main problem is trying to stay sane while advertising on Ebay
each time being astounded by the questions and offers of swaps
what planet do they come from asking "would you take £400 for your cue? i know its advertised at £1000 but i dont have much money and i want it for my husband for xmas!"
oh and can you throw in a case and extensions
im guessing a few ppl on here have had the same kind of thing happen

or is it just me

also why on earth do owners of older Parris cues for sale think that red glue is better or in fact rare or in anyway a sign that it was made by john himself?
the red glue was changed as it took longer to cure in cold weather (which isnt good for a company that has a massive waiting list)
and it bleed into the lighter colour woods used on the butt splices

Ha ha yes that all sounds very familiar indeed. The one that gets me is a blank underbelly for super smooth cueing. That is nonsense also. if the cue is sealed properly you don't feel any grain.

This is true, but it's also true that over time the grain filler can come out or wear especially when running through the bridge hand, you don't have to worry with a blank underbelly, just saying ;-)

A clear underbelly is a nice feature to have on a ash cue for sure. Grain will wear overtime with regular use due to being the soft part of ash I’m afraid. And does cue nice no matter whatever other people say...maple like.
Some people prefer the of grain running over cueing hand but a look & feel of a ash cue with maple like cueing is perfect in my opinion.
The red glue is another thing entirely and a load of b******s.

I'm near sure I've seen a craftsman cue with that design, just looks like one of their cues with a different badge attached. When i first seen the listing in the search i thought it was a mannock that someone had jointed, then on seeing the pics it just looks like a re-badged cue. Even the joint which he says was added by Tony Glover doesn't look right.

I didn't notice that bit, just had a look in the shop and it is all Chinese stuff, not sure what an unbadged Chinese cue would be like.
