Hunt&o’byrne red plate.

Hi, does any one know what you would roughly have to pay for a red plate 58in, 3/4 joint cue.
In excellent condition. And Was cleaned & serviced by will hunt him self.
I no there’s no pictures, but it would be nice to no what I’ve got. Thanks.....

IIRC the red plates were machine spliced. They're not going to be worth much, compared to a black or green plate.

I think in this crazy climate, it may still fetch £300-400 at least...especially if targetted to a Chinese buyer

You recall correctly
Red plates were the machine spliced cues -probably by another company (Garrisons or aeon?) As Will Hunt did not have the equipment to make these cues, may have finished them and added splices, badges, etc
That is not to say that they are or are not really good players

I saw that. Just out of interest what is wrong with it...?

The circle around the name on the badge...? Or something else.

Honestly, i'm not an expert. But the cue looks brand new. Also, the story is a very roundabout way of explaining why the cue doesn't look like a black plate, or a red plate. Without any documentation i'd hear alarm bells. Also, the story from the seller is the story from the previous seller with 'my cue' changed to 'my friends cue', even reused the first sellers pictures.

IIRC they didn't do a brown; blue, green red and black they did; so maybe the photo colour is off a bit

Honestly, i think something dodgy is going on. Like people have multiple accounts on ebay and are artificially boosting the price of these cues. This is the 3rd cue this month, from different sellers, described as being bought direct from the Bermondsey factory 30 years ago. That's not all, the descriptions are almost the same, word for word.
