  • Does oiling affect the cue stiffness?

I oil my cue pretty often, maybe once a month.

I find the cue getting stiffer after constant oiling.

Does constant oiling makes the cue stiffer?

    If yes, why?

    Please advise. Thanks!

Timber, especially ash, gets harder with time. Some of the oak used in old buildings for instance, old beams, you would never cut with a normal saw. Oiling wouldn't make a jot of difference to the stiffness of a cue, certainly not making it stiffer.

You shouldn't need to oil it that often, once a year is enough. Just give it a good rub down every week and that should be enough

Trevor White told me once a year is sufficient (if at all). That was good enough advice for me.
The bitter taste of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.
