  • ferrule question

Hi all, i have recently purchased a new cue, and have just noticed that the ferrule sticks out wider than the shaft on one side, is this normal, and will it put any undue pressure on the shaft .??

hello, its not normal no, and yes it could damage the shaft as the pressure will not be spread out correctly.

What cue is it and where did you get it from?

Believe it or not, it is an ADR147 1 piece cue i purchased from a shop in Keighley, i noticed it when i went to wipe the cue down, it is not a lot, but if i slide my hand up the shaft of the cue you can feel it.

It can happen sometimes if the ferrule is put on a cue that is not dry enough.
Happened to the first cue I made for myself.
Was fine when i finished it in the workshop but a few weeks or so later.
        The same thing had happened.
No it's not normal but also one of them things that can happen.

Cheers Ninja, it doesnt really bother me, just wanted to make sure it was not going to damage the cue over time, it is a lovely cue, and i really enjoy playing with it, now to find a decent case for it lol, the one i have got is not great as the cue wont sit flat in it, the tip end sits up quite a bit, makes the cue look warped, which it is absolutely not, maybe need to invest in a Halo case soon.

It depends on how things the ferrule is..
If it's not thin, then you shouldn't have a problem with it
