  • Transparent grain filler

I'm normally really careful with my cues but last night I went to pick up my case then realised the clasps were not closed and both cues fell crashing to the ground. Got a few small dings on my playing cue. I steamed them out with the kettle (not sure if this is the best method but it does seem to work OK). I have re-oiled the shaft but on closer inspection quite a few of the ash grains look like they need filled. I don't want to darken the chevrons I prefer the shaft to look plain as possible, do I just apply thin layers of transparent grain filler? Never done this before, is this easy enough or is it a cue doctors job? Don't mind paying for it but the postage is a bit of a killer both ways for a 1 piece cue and there are no cue doctors close to me.

You could use grain filler a close colour match to the ash. alternatively layer up with several layers of sanding sealer, sanding over lightly in between stages

Thanks, I'll try the sanding sealer and see how I get on.
