  • John Parris- Old or New

Thinking of getting a New John Parris Cue, but I’ve had a couple of people telling me to look for an older second hand one rather than new. Any Advice from you guys??
    Cheers.

New. People seem to sell second hand ones for more than new ones, makes no sense to buy used.

The only reason people suggest old is getting hold of ones that John made himself. For the most part, it's nonsense. He hasn't made a cue for as long as anyone can remember so new or old there's next to no chance that John has even been near it.

Did that myself - went down to Forest Hill and picked one out I liked the feel of - never understood the getting one made thing - to me and its personal preference it has to feel right - got a lovely Parris Pro (model was irrelevant to me..that was the one that felt right) but just waiting now for them to finish personalising it for me. Also, there are a lot of dodgy ones out there - go to the shop and you know you are getting the real thing.

Depends what you want and how soon. If you want an ultimate within the next 5 years, the only option is second hand.

Stock cue are available in the JP shop, and won't be significantly more expensive than second hand.

I would look elsewhere. In my opinion his cues are utter crap. Far better for way way less. Badge snobbery is all his cues have going for them

Here's an example. £1200 worth of cue and it's been spliced by a blind man.

Look, more than likely. Play better? Entirely subjective.

I'm inclined to think something is up with that photo. I can't imagine anyone who received a cue as terrible as this wouldn't have noticed and sent it straight back.

Picture seems fine, some people don't care about level/in-line splicing so maybe he doesn't realise, shame the maker didn't care tho ehh!!

I've seen a few cues from him that people would be happy with but seem to ignite it if it's a Parris
For that one you've always wanted...

Talking from first hand experience. I tried those twenty dollar chinese specials and i was quiet impressed with how they play. Off cos the cue wasnt finished well but well worth twenty dollars
