Actually there is nothing illegal going on. The wood could well be an Ebony and it's not saying Made in England. Geordie Pool England ie of England is legit as they are an English company. It's unfortunate but Joe Blogs has it in his head that Ebony is black and it's not all. Buyer beware I'm afraid.

Keep up the slaggin em off attitude Bitter least it gives me a smile reading your ebay ad's

    p.s.

Have a shot at the so called "Grey Ebony" the chinese use next time. The only reference to Grey Ebony on the internet is their ebay addys.

I'm off to sand that Cue Power one of my sons back later with some pics.

No one is saying they are English made though Andrew even Geordie Pool's site has a photo of their cuemaker http://www.geordiepool.co.uk/handmade.JPG
By omitting the words "made in" no one can do anything about it. If they were included then a simple letter threatening to sue from either a buyer or another cuemaker would be enough for them to drop it. (You could have done same with that Aconmate and their web advert)
Remember Equitable Lifes tv advert where they said because they dont pay commission more is invested in their policies? Someone from Scottish Amicable wrote them a letter saying if it's not dropped from the tv in x number of days get your lawyes on the phone as you'll need 'em in court"
It was ditched way before the deadline as even though they paid no commission to brokers they paid fat bonus's to their own sales reps.

Anyways, I've took various grades of sandpaper to that cuepower cue and sanded about 3" of it above the badge. Done it deep enough to misshape it and I believe deep enough to go past any impregnated dye. It was a bit lighter, but not much, nowhere near as bad as that Geordie pool on ebay. Took some photos but my 4 meg camera cant distinguish between a before and after pic probably would in sunlight. Spent the next hour and a half sanding it till it was back to a perfectly round shape. A little of the dye, one dab on a paper towel was enough to get it as dark as it was and with some beeswax it's back to how it was. Possibly the dye wasn't needed maybe a black wax ie shoe polish would have done it just as good. The dye took unlike it did the first time probably because the wire wool only route I took then wasn't enough.
Bottom line is I reckon it's Ebony, still think it's Macasar though it could be some other and yes it's probably been stained somehow.

Main thing though is delicreeps has a budget of £100, £30 of which is going to be blown on postage unless a cheaper courier is used leaving £70. The Cuepower cue telescopic extension and mini butt exc postage I'd say he should bid £40 tops and if he dont win it first time probably will when another goes up. Leaves him £30 for a case a decent tip superglue scapel and he's set up.

Go on say it somebody ... Till the cue warps like xxxx

A mastercue is beyond the £100 budget though unless you drop on a good second hand one.

Ulkrit (Matercues owner see: www.mastercue.th.com) was offering free postage anywhere in the world when I had his a price list off him about 4 months ago but only on his £100 +cues. (Probutts start at £125)

The cheapest cue they do is £30 (see their machine spliced CP1 and CP2) and their cheapest hand spliced is £80 (CS1 and CS2) then add £5 for a butt joint, £8 for a mini butt, another £22 for a telescopic extension, and £24 for their cheapest case.(AC2) Postage we can guess is gonna add another £30 to the bill making it a minimum total of £119 machine spliced or £169 for hand spliced.

So if you can fully kit out a guy in Turkey for £100 from Mastercue you maths has to be as good as your 5 scores from 4 frames.

Glad to hear you are happy with your new cue
                      Happy potting mate !!

Kitting someone out in Turkey with a good quality cue for a £100 budget is going to be very difficult !!
His best bet is finding a cue outlet more local to where he lives , people forget when they buy a cue over the net sometimes they can't get any follow up services they might be require .

I'll try to save some more money for a Mastercue maybe, but that could take a long time. What about a BCE or something?
