  • Machine-spliced Craftsman cues...

Anyone who has had any experience of them, how are the shafts of the machine spliced cues finished?
The ones less than £70, the 'Victor' cues?

A friend is wanting to buy a new cue for around £70, and I thought these would be better than a BCE cue for a similar price.

    Any ideas?

Likely to be much better to be honest. Also worth a look are the mastercue machine spliced cues available for similar money.

Absolutely nothing wrong with a machine spliced but I cant stand them, they just look cheap.

Is the £70 budget for a cue, a cue and extension / s or the full monty case and all?

I can see what you mean about looks, but ive just recently resurrected an old machine spliced powerglide cue for use in my pool matches, and its a fantastic cue.

Ahh, i think that was the one i wanted help identifying - ADR147 kindly helped me out. Thats not finished yet Will doubtless be complete cr*p (if i can make myself a useable and aesthetically passable cue ill be happy) Im just enjoying myself, its great to have a hobby where you actually have to use your hands. Only photo ive got is of the new ferrule i fitted (just using a knife, dont have any proper kit yet). Its not finished yet (needs a polish to remove scratches), but i think its OK. Maybe ill post a couple of pics when im finished, but im not a carpenter, im just stubborn)

Well the ferrule looks A1. A threaded one I imagine as you'd have had a right game with just a knife to shape it for a push on and glue one ?

Cheers , think it looks better in the photo, but its good enough. Its non-threaded - pain in the b*tt to be honest!

As requested - not quite finished, but here is that old powerglide. Very long way from perfect, but its OK and ive learnt a lot that i can apply next time

good work - wire wool 0000 needed on that ferrule though.

Cheers The glueline on this side of the top splice is the only one that turned out not so good. Yes, the ferrule does still need finishing off, as does the rest of the cue!
