I have been having a problem with my cue being sticky, so I asked a regular at my club for advice and he recommended that I sand off the varnish, then apply some thick wood polish, leave for 5 minutes, then buff it.
I'm currently at the stage where I've sanded it down with some 400, 800 then 1500 grade wet dry paper, and it feels much better. The problem now is that I'm not sure if I've bought the right stuff from B&Q to polish/buff it. What I have is satin clear quick dry varnish, which says it 'protects, colours and enhances interior wood'.
Can anyone advise me on whether I should leave my cue as it is, feeling much smoother, or if having stripped off the varnish the cue is now vulnerable to warping with moisture getting into it? Or should I apply this varnish that I have, or do I have the wrong stuff and need to go out and buy something different?
Thanks in advance...
