Sorry ADR, i deleted that post cause when wity called me religous it wasn't funny anymore. I'm not religious! In fact, I hate religion simply because its the very reason the world's so messed up today.

And thanks for all your posts on your knowledge in cue building. I think that if you started a sticky on how to build a hand spliced cue for amatuers, it would have the most hits on this forum!

i am not entirely sure i agree with you - firstly trevor and mike make useful and helpful contributions to the forum in lots of ways not just how to build a cue, secondly they are a few of what is a dying trade in the uk it is not a good idea to explain exactly what they do on a forum otherwise we might find the chinese suddenly start turning out top class cues at a price that the uk based maker can't possibly be expected to compete with, also there would be a sense of responsibility if something went wrong plus there is a real danger that they would have to stop building cues to provide the technical support - maybe if you paid them £250k a year each they might do that!

Personally i'm all for folks hanging on to trade secets just as long as they dont take them to their graves. The internet for instance has contributed a great deal in putting many people out of work, nearly as many as Maggie Thatcher.

Yes, I beleive there is a God but i'm not religious. If you think that's a riddle you may need to do some thinking over it....or some studying...whichever enlightens you...

ADR, this is not a very fair statement. The man is asking what glue to use to stick his cue together.

Firstly, its unlikely that the chinese will turn out top class cues because good cues need good hands, a very good eye, time and patience. The chinese only have 1 thing in mind and that's the bottom line, how many cues they can sell. I doubt trevor and mike do that. There's a limit to how many cues they can produce because of the workmanship that goes into each one. And because of that, they will always be special regardless of how much knowledge they share about cue making. And regardless of how many other cue makers there are going to be out there. If you're special you're special if you're not, you're not. A million more cue makers born wouldn't make you less special more than a million cue makers dying will make you more special. You are what you are.

Again, not everyone who wants to make a cue are doing it to start a business.

The chinese already know how make a cue, its obvious isn't it? Ebay is flooded with them, but are they appreciated? Surely not to their extents. So sharing such simple knowledge as to what glue to use to stick a cue together, what kind of harm would that do? If he was asking for the files to manufacture his own joints then that's arguable. but glue?

I'm sure if you were to take a look through other threads in the forum, that you may well find Mike has offered some knowledge or opinion that people reading have found useful.

I've been through Mike's posts, and they seem consistent to me. That is the only why I decided to post what I did.

Occasionally I'd say we are all capable of posting what might appear a little closed or defensive, but that shouldn't, and probably doesn't, define what we're about.

I think that if one is unwilling to genuinely share their knowledge in a forum, you should save the space for those who are willing. There's little point in writing a huge post saying you're sorry and you cant help because you're insecure. Again, when it comes to basic things anyone can share. It is specialized forums that people turn to for unique knowledge and if you are unwilling, this forum would not be as special as it should be having you around.

If I could make a perfect cue, I'd share it with the world so they may experience my joy.

I notice that last two quotes in your post above were made by me.

I was trying to be fair to Mike there, as I have no idea what posts he has made on the forum in total, or, what the general nature of them has been. I will say though, from what I have read from him, he doesn't appear to have posted with the kind of closed attitude he did in that one particular post.

This is why I said what I did in the second quote you've used.

We can all get a little emotional or passionate about an issue, but I'm sure most of us don't post something at every opportunity when we feel this way. This is what I think Mike possibly felt in saying what he did, though I can't say that for sure, as I don't really know him.

Many people here do make comments or submit posts which are probably best left unsaid, but again, we're all different. Perhaps it's best to give people the benefit of the doubt and let things slide by when we can.

i think if you read through my posts or the tip guide you can download for free on this site or ask some of the forum members you might find out just how helpful i have been to lots of people on the forum in both useful advice and discounts.

in the end its not just about money but we all have to pay the bills somehow and i don't see what gives you the right to preach a moral code we should all adhere to? each person is entitled to conduct themselves the way they see fit. i personally think the contribution in both time, effort and experience on this site from the cue worlds professionals for want of a better word is extraordinary. try finding any other forum on any other subject where the top guys in the field are helping out on a daily basis, and by the way i am on a couple of physics forums etc and i never see stephen hawking on there. i think maybe people don't realise how lucky they are with this forum there is not a tennis forum that has all the top racket makers plus a few refs and a few top pros reading it and posting help and good advice in their own time for no personal gain, when i first came accross this forum i was staggered by the quality of advice in its pages almost all of it is first rate.

As friends of a person, I do not blame you for stepping in to defend or protect his rights. It is the right thing to do. It wasn't you i was speaking to but him. So I dont really understand why trevor had to put himself in the picture, maybe you've been holding back to those you were able to give to in the past? That's your conscience.

So it really does not matter if you accept or reject my words, it wasn't intended only for the person it was written for. All I care about is that he reads it. The moment he does, my purpose is fulfilled. In the end, I gain nothing from writing such words but hate as you can see. I never expected any of you to accept it. It is your choice to accept or reject the words, it is your decision but at least it has been said. Why do I even bother to put myself in this position to try to change the mind of one person. Because he is worth it.

Remember your friends accept your weaknesses. Only those who truely love you exposes them.

I'm not a friend, I dont even know him but if I think if I could contribute to his life in a special way based on what I've learnt through and about life, then I will say what I need to say. I wish him well and I will say no more.

well that's interesting. i can't be bothered to read it all right now, just had a brief scan.

in the meantime, my 'duty' is not to join a forum and tell everyone how to do things. i came on here for a bit of light entertaiment, bit of banter, and a bit of advice where i feel it is needed. take time to read other posts and you might see i've offered very good advice to other people.

Dont have time for the video to load. Googled it instead. I live my life as best i can (Do as you would be done by pretty much sums it up i would guess) and I dont think i have anything to fear from any benevolent 'god'.

Id just like to say that this is a good forum and Im grateful for the help and advice I have recieved here.
