Hi Trevs - I've been told that should I want it then 100 pieces isn't a problem - however I haven't seen it yet ! The 1st shipment is usually very good it's the subsequent ones I tend to worry about - oh, and yes, price is for single pieces and I wouldn't be prepared to reduce the cost even if someone wanted to order 50 pieces - the only reason for me getting involved with this forum was to help budding cuemakers or those that needed help or assistance in getting started, which includes helping them source materials if need be, not to use it as a market place for my own cues. The fact that that has happened has been a decided bonus, but it was never my primary intention and that goal of helping people remains the same

      I see, that's quite expensive isn't it?

If anyone does want ebony to use for cue making, then it is available from a number of UK sources, and, at a lower cost than this, so I don't see why people would pay it.

I also thought you were talking in quantities of 1,000 or more.

If the quality was good, and the price is good for the right quantity, then I'd have taken a look at it, but that's not the case.

      I misunderstood, sorry.

Hi Trevs - I'm not in the wholesale wood business and even if £20 is expensive to you - to me it's the quality that matters. I don't remember ever mentioning I was taking a 1000 pieces I only hold what I need to for a couple of months hence I buy 100 at a time, which still amounts to a considerable amount tied up in raw stock when you consider my current stocks not only of Ash that has recently arrived from America having been specially sourced and selected ( which no doubt is far more expensive than you'd pay, especially considering the freight charges as well from the US) but also of Snakewood, Kingwood, Amboyna and Thuya Burrs; then my investment in raw stock is quite considerable. Fortunately some of these are also used in the furniture making so I'm not entirely reliant, as some are, on cue making; the cue making is something I've been doing for over 30 years and I still enjoy doing it and find it relaxing (probably because I'm a crap player and get the satisfation of seeing what good players do with my cues).

its the problem of stocking that kills all small business. the quality is something i would happily pay over the odds for, but for a piece of ebony at that price it would need to be VERY good indeed.

                            • Hi Craig
The workshop will take place as far as I can see in July or August - generally fairly quiet months - but the final date will be decided by BBC television and the independant filmaker - sorry I can't be more specific but I will post a thread nearer the time to let you all know - at present there are so many people that want to attend it's made me realise how many of you really want to make your own cues - one of you will I'm sure prove to be a prodigy and become the best cuemaker of us all !!!!!!!!!

                              Regards - Keith
