  • What length cue is right for me?

    Hi all,

I'm new to the forum so hope this is not a daft question. This is a great site and wish I had found it earlier!

I am 6foot 4 and I'm not sure what length cue I need. I currently have a 57inch Lewis and Wilson cue (bought about 5years ago when I wasn't as tall) but am going to invest in a John Parris, so was thinking of getting a 58 inch cue .

Would like to get your views on this, and I'm thinking do I need to go longer still? Any help would be much aprechiated. Nath

Are you comfortable with your current cue or just thinking of changing?

Hi Nath205gti, welcome to the forum.

You are clearly unsure about your next cue purchase, so taking that into consideration, along with your height, I'd advise a cue slightly more than you feel you'll need, as it will allow some scope for trimming back if required.

If you think you might need a cue of say 58", I'd say get it done to 58.5".
This will not be too much over your specs, but will allow a little more should you find you needed that. After all, if you're going to the expense of getting a very high quality hand built cue, why be minimal with it, only to find you actually should have had it a tiny bit longer.

It will be possible to have it lengthened, but the idea with getting a cue hand made to specs is to get it as close to 'right first time' as is realistically possible. In my view, at 6' 4", I'd get it done to 59", if it needs reducing, it's cheap to do, although you might just find it's great at that length.

This will cost you less in the long run.

      Good luck with it.

Hi, thanks for the reply - I've decided on a 58.5" long cue so it will have to be a "custom made cue" i feel. I like the Parris Supreme cue that has a olive wood butt, however the Peradon King cue looks similar.... but am still tempted by so many other amazing "specialist" cue makers~!!!

think I need a second opinion
