A friend of mine says that almost all the top players plays JP ques, so i turn to you guys to check the facts.

think you'll find that Neil Robertson uses an Andy Bream cue, and Matt Stevens is either a trevor White or John Parris cue. Dochertys is an old rack cue from english ash that has been jointed over the past couple of seasons

It would be an ultimate but in the style of a traditional cue

Nope.......Neil Robertson definitely uses a Parris Classic cue that was lengthened by an Australian cuemaker called Peter Hanley. We know this for certain because Neil himself is on an Australian snooker forum and was asked which cue he uses.

Someone told me that Matthew Stevens uses a Hunt & Obyrne cue but I'm not 100% sure.

Also Ronnie uses a Parris 'Traditional' looking cue but it is for absolute certain an Ultimate!! At the Crucible in 2006 when Ronnie gave away his cue he said that John Parris was making him a new cue with a specially selected piece of ash that Parris had saved for Ronnie because it was so good!!

When I watched Neil Robertson's videos on youtube, his cue has some splices on the butt that does not look like anything from the standard line of John Parris. Were those splicing at the butt done by another cue maker? I am not sure I understand the meaning of a John Parris "extended by" another cue maker.

I heard Mark Selby was playing with a Osbourne, or a Glover. I guess it is not true then.

Matthew Stevens uses an old Hunt & O'byrne cue from many years ago.

He dropped it onto the butt (in a bit of a temper?) in Llanelli working mens club, in the toilets (tiled floor..ouch) and split the bottom of it.

Since then he's had it lengthened I don't know how many times, lastly by John Parris, who incidentally has put his own badge into the cue.

I wonder why he did that?

Neils (Parris) cue was too short so he gave it to an Australian cuemaker called Peter Hanley and he just added an extra piece to the butt....which is the different splicing that you see. I think Neil said his cue was now 59in long.

I think if this thread shows us anything, it is that it makes little difference who made the cue. As long as it's a good sound reliable cue, it clearly matters more who and what is behind it.

As we see above, the top 16 in the World are using cues by arguably over 10 different makers/manufacturers.

After all, the top 16 are just people like the rest of us, some will be interested in quality of product and attention to detail, while others are not.

The bottom line is the way a cue makes you feel in your head, AND, through your hands.
