    • Interesting discussion this. I have always thought that you just can't get better than old timber.

      Given the number of class old cues out there with 11/12mm tips, is there any reason why such a shaft could not be given a modern taper by a current cuemaker?

      As such I believe such a shaft would be better than anything "new" as it has already spent 80-100 years being a cue.

      Of course I could be entirely wrong, opinions guys?

      • Ronnie is still using the H&O. John Higgins does have the arrows near the top of the cue pointing towards him as opposed to goint toward the tip. Mark Allen also has this type of grain pattern.

            • During the Davis match, I was looking at Higgins' cue and the splicing looked very sharp, like a machine splice. Were my eyes deceiving me?

                • John has had the butt of his cue re-spliced several times, as he likes to tinker with the length, but it is definitely hand spliced ebony.
