First cue pics
I'm posting a few pics of my first home-made cue.I've been trying to upload these for the last two hours, the technology's winning.
I've made this using bits of timber from various places, the ash from a staircase spindle maker.I asked them if they would choose some nice straight grained stuff for me and post it out-no problem, they said.I bought some ebony on the net and some purpleheart from 'e'bay.
The brass also came on-line,thats for turning the ferrule etc.Bitter(on this site)kindly helped me with the air-lock joints.
I've also included a picture of the case,as you can see, this is a long way from being finished. The handle is in the background somewhere.
The stick seems to play very well, although the butt seems very slippery compared to the Rex Williams item that it replaced. That had a lacquered butt. The weight at the moment is 17.5 but I think I may add an oz whenI put the name-plate on,I'll see how I get used to it first.
Overall it's been hard work but enjoyable,I don't see me challenging the pro's anytime soon(I've turned the cue round so that you can't see the uneven splices)
I'm not too sure about the pics,I didn't know you were limited to five.More later perhaps.Tony.

Well done
I do love Purple Heart and it has coloured out nice on the cue.
Pleased my joints were of use, I did not realise you were doing an whole cue when you asked for them.
If you need joints or wood, veneers etc.. for number 2 cue I am happy to help

Well here is my first effort at a complete cue. Its not 100% complete as it needs a finish applying to the butt. Please bear in mind that i dont have any previous wood working experience and im learning as i go! (hence the imperfect glue lines!) It weighs in at lightweight 15.7oz due to the wood i used, but with a fairly forward balance of just over 18" i may add a smidge to the butt to bring the balance back and up the weight a smidge to just over 16.
