  • help ! my cue has a green tinge to it.

    Hi

I have just bought a custom made cue. It has a natural finish on it. I have had the cue around 6 weeks, it now has a grren tinge to it. (from chalk)

I am not allowed to use water ont the cue.

What is the best way to get rid of it ? wire wool ?

    cheers

The best way is to wipe down the shaft with a slightly damp cloth[not dripping cloth] and then immediately afterwards use a dry cloth to clean.

      good advice there from sunny

after doing this, WHEN CHALKING try to hold the cue at a slight tilt so the loose chalk not going on the tip doesnt fall down onto the shaft of your cue, and then get ingrained with cueing.

Once green chalk gets into the grain of your shaft it is a NIGHTMARE to get out and almost imposible to get rid of, god advice from Semih, i would take it to a cuemaker nearby and get him to do his best to get the chalk out and then when chalking make sure you are careful not get chalk on the wood, also your cuemaker may be able to fit a slightly longer ferrule to your cue to protect it a bit more.....

What you should do as weel is when chalking in the future, when the 'hole in the middle' of the chalk is getting lower, file off the top of he chalk to what it was like when you bought it new if you can, but lower, then cut off the label on the side to the correct height. This makes the chalk slightly smaller all around instead of having long sides, do this when you need to.
