    Sorry Ch. for late reply..
Just adding to your question, this particular piece of ash was about 6 months old when Trevor started building my cue, so quite soon it should be happy 1st B'day to my shaft. LOL

Thank yor for the reply. It would be interesting to know what determins the color of the shaft: The origin of the ash, the age of the wood or some treatment or finish.

So the shaft of your cue will get a linseed treatment as birthday gift?
I am confused... Oh wait... Maybe I'm not...

From what he's told me, ash can be found in different colours regardless of its age. Brighter ash will normally get darker with its age, but dark ash can also be a new and fresh timber. So I guess, for the fresh (new) timber, it would be the origin that determines its colour.
Trevor's finish is as smooth as silk, I have never seen anything like that before
        I think I'll give my shaft a linseed treatment for it's 2nd B'day

p.s. as this is a thread about TW cue photos, here is some of my new piece

        • Love the cue mate especially the contrast between the ebony and maple splicings. Very classy.

Exactly... and they make the ash shaft appear very well-aged, reliable and even... warm.

              Beautiful work. Lucky owner.
