so maybe this is due to the sandpaper grazing the ferrule and shaft.
From the pics you've posted that would appear to me to be to most likely explanation. It looks like the original finish has been worn away there. Just apply a little linseed oil onto a piece of kitchen towel, rub it over the affected area, let it soak in and buff up afterwards. You may need to do it more than once over a period of time to get it to blend in to the right colour match, and it will protect the exposed wood.
That's ok mate, no worries It was my mistake. I'm actually looking for a hand spliced 3/4 with mini but cue, budget of around £150 can you recommend any?
