how do you measure your tip size and what difference does it make to your play if its bigger or smaller?

Also does the length of the ferrule vary and again what differences does it make if your ferrule is longer or shorter?

    thanks.

Tip sizes make all the difference.A thinner tip is very reactive but there are also chances that u would put unintentional side on the cueball.A thicker tip is good when playing centre stricking but its diffcult to get a good reaction from the cueball when playing with screw and side. Most of the pros use tipsizes b/w 9-10mm.In my opinion u won't go far wrong if u stick to 9.5mm.
