they're not up to much[/QUOTE]
Oh dear! I recently boughta Lewis and Wilson for my son! What's wrong with them What would you recommend. I a have a Peradon. Is there someone I could visit to try and match my sone, his build, height and style with a cue? Is that a mad idea or should I just go by the price?

My preference for years was the softest Elk I could find in my box, but I was constantly retipping and reshaping. I recently tried a Talisman soft and was very impressed. Maybe slightly disappointed it didn't hold chalk so well and I was having to rough it up all the time. I'm currently using a Kamui Medium Black and Tweeten's green Master chalk, and think it's an awesome combination - I can't see myself trying anything else for a long long time.

At the end of the day if your son is potting balls with it & winning games then its fine.
If he isnt, then maybe look elsewhere, there is a lot of good cues makers out there buts it all about playing with it, you could have the best crafted cue you have ever felt but if you dont play good then its useless to you.
The good thing about Mikes cues are they are highly regarded and 2nd hand value is strong so you wont lose much if any money if you had to sell it.
Craftsman is in leeds and they have hundreds of cues available for you to go and try on their tables.

It's not because it's hand made that it's worth it. Hands can be sh*te at doing it
From first look, cue isn't really well finished, plus you never ever put a metallic-like plate on the butt, it's just awful. Wood doesn't look like of good quality either.
Walk away....
If you're looking for something in the £180-200 price range, honestly go to Craftsman. I have two of their cues and you can't beat the quality for that amount of money.Ton Praram III Series 1 | 58" 18.4oz 9.4mm | ash shaft + 4 splices of Brazilian Rosewood | Grand Cue medium tips

Thanks Erwan. I really appreciate you comments. Leeds is like MILES away from me in the southwest! I will look at Craftsman online. I thi nk I nreally do need to try cues; it's about how it feels in your hands rather than what it looks like. I might find a Paris Ultimate feels wrong for me! I have been interested to read and look at Trevor White cues which look real quality and also Mastercraft cues in Shropshire. Any additional coooemnts that you can add on these firms would be really valued. Is there a good maker near Bath or Bristol that I can try the cues out before I buy simialr to the place you mentioned in Leeds? Thanks

I think frankandsandell (member on here is somewhere down there). Cue makers you have Mike Wooldridge (portsmouth) but he doesnt have a shop, the cues are made to order.
Do you know the exact spec you want, shaft type, weight, length, butt size, balance, tip size?

Hi guys n gals, sorry to ask the same question again, but what is the best cue? I'm looking for a cue for my father so I'm seriously looking for the absolute best. He's been playing snooker since.....well he probably played against Moses as a kid, so I don't want to look like a fool by buying him a piece of rubbish. Budget wise..... Nothing set in stone, but if I could get away with under £10k it would be nice. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Oh yeah, 1 piece or 3/4 at 18oz if possible.
Thanks
