i would guess at least that more likely between the wars but the joint is newer!

alex cue was jointed before that i am sure. there are of course centre joints much earlier the patented etc...

i don't think so, not sure when john started but he would have been very young when the first 3/4 cues were made?

Alex was well known for messing with his cues adding weights, sawing the shft down to get the right stiffness, and trying the 3/4 joint.
So it all leads back to Alex.... hope this helps cheers

I think John Spencer was the first player to use a jointed cue, 1/2 split. Cannot really remember Higgins cue TBH, but I do remember Jimmy being the first player to use a 3/4 jointed cue that was made as such. If Higgins cue did have a joint put in it wasn't because of the benefits of a modern 3/4 joint such as Jimmy's with a solid butt end.
