dave coutts or trevor white. imo they can make a cue as good as anybody and are cheaper than parris. you can use the change to buy a top of the range stamford leather case and still have some left over for a trip to the crucible!
Hello Mike, (and thanks to those who've responded thus far)
Valid points, indeed. However, the question was not asking how a grand would be best spent, on lessons or otherwise, but, simply, who people would choose to purchase their cue from if they had such an amount to spend. Perhaps the question would've been better put another way: If you were given a voucher, redeemable through any cue-maker, for the purchase of any cue, with which cue-maker would you choose to redeem your voucher?
Well, and this is just my opinion, over the last few years I have had cues made for me by a few of the very best cuemakers and for sheer accuracy and craftmanship I have to say that my vote goes to John Parris and Trevor White. Both produced cues for me which were exactly what I asked for. I am usually very fussy with my specs, even going so far as to take exact readings with digital micrometers for my preferred cue taper and specifying exact balance points etc.
Can I get more than one cue with this voucher?
I am not trying to be clever here, but I really think a 400 or even less cue will serve me just fine if it hits great. So, for me to spend that much on a cue, I will be may be trying to order with the same spec from a few of the top guys and see if there is any difference. I think a case is very important, as it protects your cue especially if you fly with it sometimes.
I am sorry, I am complicating the situation here.

hiya mike
know what you mean i have had dave brown back and forwards to the workshop taking .1 of a mil of the but diameter, tad of the tip then saying no start again and he as always delivered. so my vote would be craftsman cues
plus that would leave enough for a fry up in the cafe opposite hes workshop next to the supermarket. they did a world cup special a couple of years ago 2 sausages,2 eggs,2 rashes of bacon, mushrooms, fried bread, tomatoes, beans, toast and tea. no wonder i can't reach the blue spot any more
