Definately a wooldridge or one of trev's cues, from past experience they are the only two cuemakers that take the time to find out EXACTLY what the buyer wants, this kind of service you cannot buy, if i thought i would get the perfect shaft and finish i would go for a parris ultimate aswel.
Interesting reading through this little topic. Personally, I don't like to judge cue makers or grade them against each other. I've had cues from nearly all those mentioned and I think they are all capable of producing what you want. Okay there are the odd occasions when I've had cues I'm not keen on, but I judge them by how they play and not the craftsmanship. However how a cue performs is in the lap of the gods sometimes, I wouldn't put anyone down just because a cue didn't perform how I'd hoped.
If I had to get a new cue though to replace my own playing cue, god forbid something should happen to it, I'd have one off Trevor, because of all the people I've dealt with in the past, he IMO asks all the relevent questions and researches what you require. You don't always get this service with some who are just after your money, but again I'm not naming or shaming, they just wouldn't get any future recommendation from me.
Dave Coutts also deserves an honourable mention, made me a fantastic Hendry style cue, took ages though before I got it but had a century the day after I had it.
Nothing original from me either I am afraid. For my Money Trevor White every day of the week, with Mike Wooldridge a close second.
However no one is perfect. TW will clearly not be making cues for a while as he will be dining out every day for the next 100 years on the welsh victory in the rugby yesterday, and Mike is a West Ham fan which is clearly not the best thing to be in this world!!!!!!!!
Its not how well you play its how good you look playing that counts!
Also......and this is important......Trevor has made over 300 snooker century breaks in his time and so from a really good players view Trevor knows what it feels like to play top quality snooker with top quality cues.

I can feel a challenge match coming:-
Trevor White v Mike Wooldridge
Any bets?

Good post, so that poses the question for messers Wooldridge and White, before making cues who made the cues you used while playing?
