New vintage cue from Mike Wooldridge and one of the nicest hitting cues I've played with.
    Very pleased with this one

found the reference I recalled - The Billiard Monthly Aug1911 p12 "Cue tips, being made in France, are sized by their diameter in millimetres, viz., 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13."

    also found another Norman Clare lectures (2009) - billiard/snooker cues - http://www.snookerheritage.co.uk/nor...-snooker-cues/
"The actual invention of the leather cue tip is attributed to a Frenchman named Mingaud. ...(As a point of interest because of the 'French' connection the size of tips has always been in metric sizes. The only UK manufacturer of tips was E.L. Fletcher & Son Ltd of Baldock, now part of Peradon's the famous UK cue makers)."

ferrule sizes - I believe is in metric because the cue ferrules (or was it the new type tips ?) in the olden days used to come from Europe and obviously in metric sizes.
I saw an article in one of my old magazines about this will try to find it
butt size -not sure why metric
