One question does anyone have any ideas on how to make the butt shine I find it very dull.

Someone once mentioned some gun-stock stuff which is longer lasting than linseed oil, but I can't find it on ebay at the mo." Practice to improve not just to waste time "

If you buff it while it is isn't quite dried it produces a satin finish which isn't bad

Friction Polish of any brand, a soft cloth and elbow grease. I use Rustins and it works a charm but be willing to rub as it has been designed to finish wood to a deep shine on a lathe.
