  • Curly Ash?

I have recently seen an ash cue, with some curly grain just like curly (tiger) maple grains.

The ash grains are dark like the usual ash, but when you turn the ash under the light, you can see curly patterns which run perpendicular to the ash grains.

Is there a special name for this kind of ash?

    Are they more rare?

Does any one specially ask for this type of ash when ordering a cue?

    Thank you

Ash like most woods can come with a variety of gain patterns. (see: http://www.hobbithouseinc.com/personal/woodpics/ash.htm
Wether or not this type would be suitable for a cue shaft or not I imagine only having one made and tried would get you the answer but almost everyone prefers straight grain.
