I am new to this forum, so forgive me if this topic has been raised before. I play 8-ball pool exclusively. I have always been amazed at the look of American style cues and thought that 'normal' cues are antiquated in appearance. Anyway I happened to be looking at Meucci cues on their site and came across Bob Meucci's video lectures. One was about the different shafts that he offers for the cues that his company makes. Anyway my question is: do the UK cuemakers take note of developments in the American cue development? (I know the games are different but there must be certain fundamentals that are the same, or at least elements that could be brought across in cue design). It would be cool to think that one could own a cue that was a hybrid of both, taking the best elements of both scenraios. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

The "technology" of yank cues is merely the "low throw" pinciple which really only reduces throw it does not eliminate it although it becomes pretty much the same between shafts from the same makers. America itself is divided on wether or not its a good thing which you can read about on american pool boards such as billiards digest..
Their cues taper diferently mainly to suit the pool players that like to wrap their index finger around the shaft but thats nothing new.
Hendrys cue made for Accurate is the latest perhaps only English style low throw cue and they claim the throw as measured by computor and robots is less than the lowest of them all as measured on predators own equipment yet they still have not been independently tested. Their other claim was that their snooker cues produce less throw than any existing cue which though not tested by robot has been tried and ridiculed by cue makers amatuer and pro players alike on this board. (Search for acconmate if you like)
The rest is basically visual, yanks like their cadelacs and bling we like quality and traditional hand made stuff.
Half and hallf ? No thanks, Who here wants a Rolls Royce with a plastic interior and spinners ?
