Amazing Badge/Name Plate

There's some amazing cues out there, but I also find it interesting looking at the badge or plate too. I think the plates on the older cues look a bit better than the more moder discs.

I was thinking how great it would be to get something totally custom done. What about a coin where the disc would be? This attachment be the one for me, Forth Bridge coin, me being a Fifer.

....nice coin , and must admit I'm a big fan of the older cues, the older the better, and some of the older plates/discs are awesome. Maybe a bit too modern this one, and a bit predictable from me, but I'd go for the Formula 1 logo, in black.



[Although thinking about it, may have to make it into a tougher material, I've only seen cloth logos, and also as plastic badges, not a good match with wood..]

Yes I like that coin, ironically I think it costs a fortune lol. I'm sure I could get something similar made though that wouldn't cost too much. You're a female formula 1 and snooker fan? Will you marry me?! Damn I bet someone beat me to it eh lol

Such a beautiful material, and on the really old ivory name plates, if they were made well, were so smooth and you wouldn't even be able to feel the lettering, if you were to run your finger over the surface of the badge. Awesome craftsmanship, especially how they used the hot-foil process to burn the letters into the ivory.

Out of all the materials used, ivory is one of my favourites, they were so much more simple in design and style. A pity it was phased out in the 1920's, replaced with plastic. Not quite the same for me.

And tomorrow's GP should be good, Kimi in pole, Felipe 3rd, and Lewis 5th. Not easy for Lewis though with Ferrari speed, and BMW's development.

Ivory looks great! it's how the material was sourced that I have a problem with lol.

I can actually see the podium finishes tomorrow being the same as today, wee cheeky bet on it.

The yanks still use ivory in thier cues for inlay work. Such cues are very coveted and apparently if a tusk goes up for sale it's the cuemakers who bid the most for it. Legislation seems to work well there with only existing ivory in the usa allowed to be sold and a total ban on a cue with ivory being took* abroad.

...interesting one, and I've also heard of an artificial type of ivory used as well, ivorine, a good substitute, although haven't seen it close up, so can't comment on how well it replicates the real thing, or if it's still used today.

I like the enamel badges most Andrews and Craftsman cues both come from Birmingham but I think are actually made closer still to me here in Bilston as the town is somewhat famed for enamel work.

Well it'll be down the line if I decide to get that done, we shall see. Would look quite interesting I think, but when the novelty wares off maybe not so good.
